'If It's Football, It's Vital'

They Think It`s All Aidy - It Is Now!

Fan View

Vital Colchester was proudly represented at today`s press conference to unveil the ambitious coup of one-time Premiership boss, Aidy Boothroyd, as manager.

During the past fifteen days, we unrelentingly brought you news and views on possible appointments, with an unmissable daily bulletin - the race to replace - which gave readers a latest lowdown throughout what was perhaps Colchester United`s most tantalising managerial face-off ever.

From smoke-and-mirror suggestions, to today`s real done Boothroyd deal, it has defiantly seemed a rollercoaster ride.

After mass press speculation across Tuesday, today brought final confirmation of what was already being read heavily between the lines.

It has been an interesting and unpredictable period to Colchester for an online audience, that`s for sure!

However, having crossed the usual boundary between fan and roving reporter, on what has ultimately been very good day for all Colchester United followers, I would like quickly to echo the thoughts of most terrace-dwellers by saying Boothroyd`s appointment reflects excellently in fulfilling everything those running the club promised to deliver.

And how often can any fan at a club genuinely say they feel their expectations have been so fully recognised or rewarded?

An ambition to better the previous era seems wholly genuine, at least through what I saw from media gallery.

This appointment also serves, in my view, as a renewed statement of intent from Chairman, Robbie Cowling. That Boothroyd has joined should be seen in itself a vindication of the methods he and Chief Executive, Steve Bradshaw, pledged to use for capturing the right candidate.

It has been very well-received and comes with an added excitement about what the future now holds for everyone who cares about the club.

Today I am extremely proud to call myself a Colchester United fan.

But, if you didn`t understand much of what I meant in those previous paragraphs, it is another way of saying: I`m over the bloody moon!

Let's just hope you are, too.

Thank U's, thanks U's very much!
