Medy Elito Pens New U's Deal

'Medy Elito??? - Does he still play for us?' I hear you asking yourself, well, yes, he does and the ink is just drying on a the pacy winger's new contract...

Elito, still only 19 years-of-age, broke onto the first-team scene one-and-a-half years ago, while the U's were in The Championship. However, last season, he was banished, like a number of other players, under now ex-boss (thankfully!) Paul Lambert. Surely no way to treat a precise, young, nationally recognised footballing talent?

U's chief executive Steve Bradshaw told the club's official website: 'We are really pleased that Medy has decided to pen this contract.'

And Bradshaw credited the impact of Joe Dunne's increased involvement with the first-team as a major factor in the matter.

'Medy is a huge admirer of Joe Dunne and the work he has carried out at the club, particularly after their association in the time Medy was with the youth team,' he explained.

With the somewhat surprising news comes confirmation that the England youth international is keen to kick-start his U's career.

Bradshaw concluded: 'Given Joe's recent involvement with the first team as caretaker boss and his continued key role in Aidy Boothroyd's management team, Medy has shown a real desire to give things a go again.'

Elito looks to be back in the U's fold for tomorrow's exciting clash with Southampton.

It is obvious that Elito, who signs on for two more years, is blessed with an enormous amount of talent - lets just hope he gets back-on-track!

Great move, we hope... that man is doing what he promised already and looking at good players he already has before going gung-ho for more!

Big, Big shock. But looks like Aidy sees the potential in him...

Why is it? All this week, he was saying he'll look at players he already has and also that everyone has a fresh start. What it shows it that Aidy trusts Joe Dunne but in my view, it's not a risk by the club. Elito is very young and a bit raw and wasn't wanted elsewhere in the previous rusty state he was in. So, he couldn't demand anything in a new contract and the club have followed up thier promise to use whoever is already at the club as a common-sense policy.

Well dont you think its a shock if a player who hasn't played for around 10 months and no one has heard anything about, just signs a new two-year deal????
StevieG Col U
In that sense, yes. He must have been doing basically nothing! But, well, if, say his contract was up at the end of the season and he could have walked, I say well done CUFC!
