Strange But U`s - Aidy`s 'Ghost` Handshake!

Aidy Boothroyd went for jobs with West Brom, Reading and Swansea in the weeks prior to his appointment at Colchester, according to journalist, Patrick Barclay.

Fortunately for Colchester, although Boothroyd reached the last three candidates at both Reading and Swansea interviews, the 38-year-old was unsuccessful.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5Live on Monday however, Boothroyd revealed that he recently was lead to believe his sabbatical had ended, thanks to the Chairman at a club he refused to name on air.

Of the grapevine story, he confirmed: "That is very true. I found out later on that it was about three or four other lads that had been offered the job, plus the guy on the telly with the scarf. Just as well we didn`t all turn up on the same day, eh? "

Boothroyd mentioned his utter disappointment at missing out on a few jobs before Colchester came calling last week, but added of the mystery club: "He [the Chairman] didn`t intimate - he shook my hand and said he`d been very impressed with the work I`d done at Watford and would communicate next week. That was it!"

Strange but true, it seems!
