I'm Just Happy To Be Playing: Lisbie
Kevin Lisbie has revealed he has no qualms about playing on the wing - following last season's nightmare at Ipswich Town.
The Colchester United man, 30, scored a weekend double, with two spot-kicks, against Hartlepool United, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Despite missing an earlier penalty, he admitted to still feeling 'quite confident' when stepping up to fire the U's into a first-half lead.
Lisbie was moved out to an unorthodox right midfield position, with boss Aidy Boothroyd pairing Clive Platt up-front with new-boy Kayode Odejayi.
And the pacey on-loan Jamaican was in a buoyant mood, post-match, speaking to The Daily Gazette: 'I felt I played well.
'Clive Platt and Kayode Odejayi were awesome up front and a winger won't play well unless his strikers hold it up.'
The former Charlton Athletic ace, who re-joined the U's on a season-long loan, in early August, failed to feature regularly for his parent club Town last season. However, Lisbie is thrilled to be playing week-in, week-out for the U's - and has hit six goals already this season.
'The manager asked me to do him a favour and play on the right wing and after not being involved at Ipswich, I'm just happy to be playing,' he added.
