Goal-netter Ifil Wants Contract To Boot

After recently writing his name on Colchester`s scoresheet against Brighton and Southend respectively, resurgent wing-back Phil Ifil wants to do it again on a new contract.

The defender had endured a torrid spell at the club since arriving from Tottenham as a Geraint Williams signing, suffering bad from and then a long spell on the sidelines.

Now Ifil, still young and with some Premiership experience, has set his sites on extending his stay in Essex having performed consistently in the absence of regular right-winger, Ashley Vincent.

"This is my last year contact-wise, so I just want to earn a new one and play for Colchester ," said the 23-year-old.

Speaking to BBC Radio Essex after his Brighton strike two weeks ago, Ifil added that his first priority was to cement a place in the side.

Having previously not been the most popular of Colchester players, he is one of a handful now making the most of a fresh start afforded to him by Aidy Boothroyd.

I think he's well on the way to earning himself a new deal! Has looked very good recently, worked tirelessly on the wing and has got seem reward with the goals.

Yes, worth a new deal; just get rid of Maybury but other than that we have good cover at RB!
