Are You Actually Up For Cup Tie?

Colchester United face a tricky trip to Preston away in the F.A. Cup this Saturday. But do you care about the result?

Just how many fans will actually make the trip to Deepdale remains to be seen but there is no arguing that playing in the world`s oldest knock-out contest during the first week of a new year brings with it a special feeling.

Still, there are many supporters, with the club going well in the upper-reaches of League One who might secretly hope the U`s suffer a knockout blow at the weekend to preserve total concentration on United`s domestic obligations.

After today`s news, mass changes appear unlikely since manager Aidy Boothroyd promised that the XI he puts out will be "as strong as possible." So that gives the club a fighting chance of progress and an opportunity to continue building a tradition of taking unexpected scalps.

I personally would be satisfied if fringe players were given a chance but it seems as the club take into account the closeness of the two teams and a possible financial reward that could await in the next round that Boothroyd will go into the game trying with as much possible might to record victory.

Maybe I`m cynical and should be proved wrong - any trouble-free victory would put paid to such pessimism! After all, Aidy also joked that he`d be delighted with a league and Cup double!

Logical response or s spoilt one? What do you think?

Well, with Boothroyd in charge we'll go to win every game. I think we have a good chance to take advantage of a poor time for PNE.
