Roy Keane passed comment on Kevin Lisbie`s immediate future, today saying that the striker could be handed the chance to play for Town again.
Although all the evidence, and Lisbie`s negative comments on Wednesday, would suggest such a dramatic U-turn at this stage highly unlikely, Keane responded passively when asked if the former Jamaican international was recalled from his season-long loan with a view to playing.
"Yes, of course," the Irishman said in the Evening Gazette. However, 10-goal Lisbie had already stated a desire to continue playing for Colchester, at a club where he is clearly wanted and held in good stead by fans.
Recent comments from counterpart Aidy Boothryd however confirm that United feel they may not be able to afford to match Lisbie`s current salary. Speculation without source has also suggested he could be allowed to sign for Crystal Palace instead.
It certainly would be a sensation if he actually ends up being selected for Ipswich again, given that the initial reason for his Colchester return was down to a personal disagreement with former boss Keane.
On finding a potential resolution, Keane added: "That won`t be up to me. That will be up to the player himself. "![]()
