Just Add Goals - Gilly`s Recipe For Success!

U`s hit-man Steven Gillespie lets fans know his New Year`s resolution - add goals to that terrific work-rate!

Having won over boss Aidy Boorthroyd and finally got some just-deserts with a first league goal in almost a year this week in victory against Southampton, Gillespie is looking to build better form for the future.

The striker is another of many in the current squad to have maintained a good rapport with United`s faithful and under especially difficult circumstances in his case.

Speaking in the Evening Gazette, Gillespie said he wanted to put his "stop-start" days behind him and work hard for the side.

I hope now that I can play in more games and score more goals. I`ve been fit since the gaffer came in and I don`t think I`ve missed a game since then. It was tremendous to get on the scoresheet and get a few starts. I was disappointed not to score at Southend but we got the result there.'

Boothroyd has backed Gillespie considerably since he arrived and now it is obviously starting to pay dividends.
