With the hinges still fresh from opening on the January transfer window, we here at Vital Colchester take a look at the possibly ins and outs...
Manager Aidy Boothroyd is keen to strengthen his squad, so as with any possible arrivals, departures look likely too. Lets get started...
In a month where there's sure to be a lot 'ifs' and 'buts', one thing we know for certain is that Kayode Odejayi - who agreed a permanent move a week ago - will the U's first capture of 2010.
While, although nothing has been signed yet, the signs are looking increasingly good with regards to the future of midfielder John-Joe O'Toole - after Boothroyd revealed a deal is '90%' of the way to completion.
Another man who seems more than likely to be appearing in U's shirt sometime soon is veteran, and former Premier League star, Nobby Solano. The Peruvian, who has spent time on trial with the club, is a player the U's have strong-interest in.
The future of another loan star, Kevin Lisbie, also looks set to drag on, after the U's admitting the financial side of any transfer could be a problem, while his parent club Ipswich Town are ready to play him.
Although Boothroyd's other transfer targets are mostly unknown, could he and the U's resurface a bid for Northern Ireland international Grant McCann - a player the U's tried to sign on loan in late November? Or could we see Southend United goal-getter Lee Barnard, a player who has been linked before and is shining in a poor team?
Outward bound looks to see loyal-defender Pat Baldwin leave the club, with Bristol Rovers a possible destination, this comes after the U's boss revealed Baldwin was his '5th choice' centre-half.
Fellow defensive duo, both out-of-favour, and barely featuring under Boothroyd, Matt Lockwood and Alan Maybury, also look likely to move on - of course this depends on a club coming in for them.
Troublesome forward Jamie Guy, who has wasted one to many chances with the U's, is another heading for a January exit.
So with a lot of questions to by answered within the next four weeks, Vital Colchester is the place to be to get those answers! ![]()
