'Homesick` Perkins Asked Aidy For Southend Switch

It has emerged that loaned midfielder David Perkins asked Aidy Boothroyd for a transfer to Southend, despite basing his initial request on homesickness.

The diminutive midfielder is one of a number of Colchester`s current crop in line to leave this month as the squad is streamlined for the second half of the season.

Jamie Guy, Matt Lockwood and Alan Maybury are all also in the shop window while it is almost definite that Perkins, currently with Chesterfield, has played his last game for the club.

Speaking to the EADT, the manager said: "There are a few that need to move on. David Perkins made it clear that he wanted to go back to the north west when I arrived and then he comes and tells me he wants to go to Southend, so that's a bit of a funny one really."

He`s probably an exceptional case as one of very few people ever to have asked willingly to cross that great divide in Essex!

Strange! Not impressed with Perks now - fair play when he came out and said he wasn't settled and wanted a move back North but if would go to the Scum then that aint the case. Why make up the lie? Just say you wanna move on...

Indeed I agree. However, maybe his loan spell made him see he didn't like it up there as much as he'd imagine!

Not sure, I say get rid of him ASAP! We have better and he doesn't want to be here... Bye...

We haven't missed him at all, I suppose that means I wouldn't mind if Southend got him!
Matt_Us
Perks is surplus to requirements - let him go to Southend with some of our other cast offs

Perks + cash bid for Barnard me thinks...

Southend never sell anyone to us yet we allow our players to go there!
