Transfer News: U's Tie Up Henderson Deal

Ian Henderson is now officially a Colchester United player after sealing a free transfer move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The versatile former Norwich city player - who has been on the boarder of signing for a few days - was given clearance and has now inked a contract. Henderson, 24, has been training with the U's for the past couple of weeks, even travelling with the squad to last week's FA Cup match.

U's boss Aidy Boothroyd, who is a big admirer of the attacker, told the club's official website: "He is a player that can play in a number of positions; he can play up front, wide right and in central midfield."

The signing of Henderson is the U's third permenant deal of the January transfer window, with the Thetford-born player adding strong competition to the U's squad.

"He is a tenacious, horrible player to play against, he never stops running and is technically a good player," Boothroyd concluded.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome Ian and wish him the best of luck in his time here.

Best of luck with him - he was very green when he was with us, and unfortunately our fans didn't give him much of an opportunity. He became quite obviously disaffected and low on confidence, which of course meant he never got any better. He showed some promise though. Hopefully you guys will give him a better run of it.

You might say he very very green - and yellow, if you look at the picture (and assuming you're a Norwich fan)! Thanks Saturday Skin, let's hope he turns out to be more than a simple banana-skin! Can't see what he's here for myself but then again he might just turn out to be half-decent.

Yeah - dont be too quick to judge Matt! Think Aidy must obviously really rate him so thats good enough for me. Welcome.

Can't seer Nobby signing now
ooohhJohnnieJackson
Well, thought the Nobby deal is close to completion? He's been around Colchester in the last couple of days, but still no announcement so maybe not...
StevieG Col U
Maybe he came to have another trial before the deal was done, as reported at the weekend but perhaps has been pipped to the spot because he spoke out prematurely about the deal? Or maybe we will get two players?? Who knows!!
Matt_Us
My money is one latter of your ideas, Matt. Think we will hear soon...
StevieG Col U
I hope for the second one as well. I suppose they could both play off and on, one subbing for the other. I have been two quick to judge this kid but at present his goal record looks less than encouraging. Since some City fans still seem to rate him, he must be alright and is still quite young so could improve.
