Club Confirm Checks For City Ticketing
Colchester United this week confirmed they are monitoring ticket sales ahead of next weekend`s crunch clash with Norwich.
Robbie Cowling, owner and Chairman, said in December that he would not extend the default away allocation after an official request from City. Although Leeds have previously been successful, Cowling refused to allow Norwich extra seats as a result of frosty relations with Colchester this season.
Thousands could not automatically book seats, therefore, which has lead to the obvious conclusion that any disappoint away fan would automatically apply for a home-end space.
On Monday, the Norfolk club took a ballot to decide priority for away supports, setting different groups based upon a match-day credit system. Over 3,000 applications were made.
Meanwhile, the extent of the U`s checks was also revealed on Wednesday, by the Norwich Evening News. They are reviewing postal codes and the also sales histories across the ground.
Although Kathy Blake, of Norwich City Independent Supporters' Association, called Cowling`s move to restrain away sales "a classic own-goal" in that article, he personally believes it will give the U`s increased chance of victory.
The game is now officially a sell-out and set to break all past attendance records set at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
