Aidy Boothroyd, manager of Colchester United, is looking to add to his central-midfield options, although Solomon Taiwo's potential loan move is off - for now at least.
The U's boss is wary of a hectic month of games up ahead, with added strength in-depth wanted in central-midfield. Northern Ireland international Grant McCann has already been linked with a move South to the Weston Homes Community Stadium - this comes after Boothroyd confirmed he's a big admirer. Hard-man Kem Izzet, John-Joe O'Toole and David Fox are currently competing for a berth in the centre-of-midfield, although Anthony Wordsworth and new-boy Ian Henderson can also play there.
'I wanted to bring another central midfield player in as back up,' Boothroyd explained to The Daily Gazette.
Yesterday it looked as though Cardiff City midfield man Taiwo would join on a temporary basis, however, an injury crisis for the Welsh side saw the transfer put on hold. The £250,000 summer signing from League Two now looks set to stay with Dave Jones' team for the time being.
The U's boss added: 'A deal for Solomon might be resurrected.'
Stay tuned with Vital Colchester for the very latest on Aidy's hunt for new players...![]()
