Transfer News: One In, One Out For U's

It was the tale of two full-backs today for Colchester United in the transfer market; one joining, the other leaving; one young, the other old; one right-sided, the other left-sided...

Highly-rated youngster Christian Ribeiro signs on a months loan from Bristol City, while veteran Matt Lockwood heads out to Barnet for a similar spell.

Ribeiro, 20, is a Welsh youth international defender who links up with Aidy Boothroyd's side to add competition for places in the back-four. The U's have conceded twelve goals in the last two games, and Ribeiro follows Norwegian full-back Morten Knudsen in improving the squad depth.

Boothroyd told the club's official website 'We are delighted to have Christian for a month. He is a big talent and he'll add competition for places with our squad.'

The former Stockport County loanee could make his U's bow away to Gillingham tomorrow.

Meanwhile, out-of-favour Lockwood drops down to League Two and returns to the Bees following a loan spell there last season. The 33-year-old has struggled to feature for the U's in the past two seasons - playing second-fiddle to fellow left-back Marc Tierney.

So a busy January Transfer Window continues for Boothroyd and the U's...

Good bit of a business. A tidy signing and good for Locky to get some football.

Very good, ribiero is a decent young right back just what we need. despite having 3 right backs we still can't keep a player concitently playing well there lets hope ribo can
