Transfer News: Prutton Pens U's Deal

David Prutton becomes the latest new face at Colchester United after arriving on a one-month loan deal with a view to a permenant move.

The hugely-experienced 6ft 1in midfielder joins from fellow League One promotion hopefuls Leeds United following a bit-part role so far this season. Prutton arrives at the Weston Homes Community Stadium to add competition to the centre of midfield as the U's face a hectic schedule of games.

U's manager Aidy Boothroyd told the club's official website: 'I am pleased to be bringing in an experienced player, who has been at a much higher level in his career. David will bolster our central midfield area for the games to come.'

Prutton, a stern-midfielder, offers versatility with the ability to play anywhere across the midfield, as well as at right-back. During his time with Southampton in the Premier League, Prutton was involved in an incident where he pushed a linesman following a dismissal and received a 10-match ban for his actions.

Prutton, 28, is available for tonight's clash with MK Dons and will wear number 26.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome David and wish him the best of luck in his time here.

Decent signing.

Yep, my thoughts too. Have just a read a theory on this deal. Think the permenant transfer is all agreed and will be done next week. As we play Leeds on Sat they wanted a loan so they can put in the 'cant play against parent club' clause and they cant do that if a permenant move was done now. Up the U's!
