Transfer News: U's Pair Make Rivals Move

Colchester United pair Pat Baldwin and Scott Vernon have joined Essex rivals Southend United on loan until the end of the season.

Cultured centre-half Baldwin's on-off move to fellow League One side Bristol Rovers had looked set to go through in the next few days, however, a move to Roots Hall has now arisen. While forward Vernon - who made a goalscoring return to action, midweek, in the Essex Senior Cup - was being tracked by a number of sides but the Blues' geographical location looks to have swung the deal.

The news will come as welcome relief for Shrimpers' fans who has endured a torrid season with the club's financial situation looking bleak.

U's boss Aidy Boothroyd has sensibly, as expected, inserted a clause which will rule the duo out of the Essex Derby in little over a weeks time.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Pat and Scott the best of luck in their time with the Blues.

well with some decent players from us maybe they can do a little bit of damage to some teams above and below us, as long as though don't in on too much of a run lol
Rob_CU
Yep, think this suits all involved. Will help us with the teams they're playing against and will be good for the players, will also help them pikeys. however...
