'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Aidy Pleased As Battling U's Hit 3rd

Aidy Boothroyd was understandably thrilled after watching his Colchester United side earn three points on the road at Yeovil Town.

The hard-working U's laid Saturday's disappointing draw against Stockport County to rest with a deserved 1-0 victory at Huish Park. Forward Kayode Odejayi struck on 38 minutes, with a impressive finish from outside the penalty area, for his ninth goal of the season.

Post-match, speaking to the EADT, Boothroyd said: 'It was scrappy and it was tough.'

On top of a great victory for the U's, other results around League One - especially defeats for promotion rivals Charlton Athletic and Leeds United - meant there is reason to be optimistic.

'We knew we would have to defend against them at times and I thought, after Saturday's performance, we were excellent,' Boothroyd continued.

'If you are going to win leagues or get promotion these are the sort of places you've got to come to, get ahead and stay ahead. We didn't manage that on Saturday, but we did tonight.'

Yeah, certainly is, thanks! At the moment I see it as you guys at Norwich winning the league, with 2nd spot up for grabs between Leeds, us and possibly Charlton, Swindon...
