Transfer News: Elito To See Out Season With Robins

Young U's ace Medy Elito will spend the rest of the season with League Two side Cheltenham Town after Aidy Boothroyd agreed to extend his loan deal.

The Colchester United wing-wizard has produced some fine displays in a Robin's shirt, along with netting twice, after penning an initial month-long loan deal. So it comes as no surprise that Whaddon Road boss Mark Yates moved to seal a deal which will see Elito prolong his stay.

Speaking to the club's official website, Yates highlighted his gratitude to U's management duo Boothroyd and John Ward for allowing the loan extension.

'Medy has made a real impact in his three games so far and he's given us something that we didn't have before,' the Robin's boss enthused.

Prior to his loan move away, Elito, 20, has found first-team chances hard to come by at the Weston Homes Community Stadium - although Boothroyd is a admirer of the youngster.

Yates continued: 'We've been searching for some extra pace for the team but he's not just a head down runner because he has plenty of ability as well. Medy has already contributed two goals and a couple of assists so we're hoping he can continue to produce that for the rest of the season.'

A 24-hour recall clause has been inserted into Elito's loan deal.

Keep up the good work, Medy!
