Woody Sits Out Crunch Clash: Will Boss Play Hand?

Second-guessing Aidy Boothroyd`s selection policy in midfield is the name of the game ahead of Tuesday`s crunch trip to fellow play-off chasers, Charlton Athletic.

The team must do without the weekend`s two-goal getter, Anthony Wordsworth, as the 21-year-old hotshot earned himself a yellow card celebrating his first in a 3-0 win aginst Swindon and is therefore suspended. He has admitted since that his caution was "silly" and so, presumably, avoidable.

He said: "I went over to take a corner and got a bit of abuse off their fans. When I scored it was nice to go over and celebrate in front of them, but it appears you can`t celebrate a goal these days."

Depending on how his manager responds to that challenge - although Boothroyd is openly keen to maintain as settled-a-side as possible - the likeliest candidates to step up are either winger Ian Henderson or the hardworking John-Joe O`Toole.

David Prutton and Kem Izzet appear inseparable for now in Boothroyd`s central-midfield plans, so Henderson`s possible recall following his most recent role as an unused substitute would represent minimal disruption to the established first-XI.

The next most logical predication would see Prutton playing wide and O`Toole regain a role at the heart of play, as seen earlier in the season.

Without natural left-side backup from Simon Hackney, the winger departed temporarily at Morecombe, the U`s could also theoretically choose to field either David Fox or Phil Ifil in a re-shaped midfield.

Stupid booking for Woody...! Think we'll go with Henderson out on the left, he's looked dangerous so far so cant see why not! Up the U's!
