Vincent In 'Bad' Ankle Injury Reoccurrence


Ashley Vincent yesterday suffered a reoccurrence of the ankle damage that has kept him out for much of the season and is set for a long lay-off according to his manager.

The former Cheltenham winger went down in Saturday`s 1-1 draw against Tranmere and follows fellow midfielder John-Joe O`Toole onto the long-term tenement table.

O`Toole is unlikely to feature again for Colchester this calendar year after his ligament problem surfaced verses Charlton but the Essex club still await news as to the severity of Vincent`s casualty.

U`s manager Aidy Boothroyd confirmed on BBC Radio Essex: "He`s a good player for u and he`s done very well to get back from his injury at Swindon. It`s the same ankle and he`s got a really bad injury on it. That`s for us to look at in the next couple of days and hopefully we can do something about that."

The player spent five months of this term re-building his fitness after a similar knock in September, which at first sight looked innocuous.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Ashley the best of luck in his recovery and rehabilitation.

Not good, I like him as a player - he's direct, full of pace and gives us something different down the flanks... Hopefully its not too bad. :/
