Colchester United and Norwich City must wait up to a month for the final verdict over Paul Lambert`s switch from Essex to Norfolk after yesterday`s Football League tribunal.
The jury retired following one of the two scheduled days and, according to Pink`Un journalist Michael Bailey, Colchester are expected to receive compensation only for the Scott`s departure.
The disciplinary action concerns not only Lambert but two other former U`s employees now on City`s payroll, Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa. All three switched sides amid a blizzard of controversial publicity last August shortly after the season`s opening game.
Robbie Cowling, the U`s Chairman and owner, made it clear earlier this season that he would angle for a dedication alongside financial remuneration and was representing the his side as the case went before jury.
He has yet to comment on Monday`s events, which occurred after formal negotiations reached stalemate in February over Lambert`s valuation.
Although Norwich could still theoretically in the extreme be stripped of their recently won League One title, or alternatively begin next term on minus points in the Championship if a points dedication were imposed, that possible sanction seems unlikely occur.
No such precedent was set in a similar case of acrimony between Blackpoll and Leeds United in 2008 when Simon Grayson was appointed as manager at Elland Road.
Working for the U`s here could be Lambert`s achievements since arriving at City, while a factor going against the Essex club is that they actually let their former boss travel to Norwich to discuss the vacancy despite initially insisting he could not resign.![]()
