Up The U`s: Cowling`s Ready For More!

Robbie Cowling will continue to champion Colchester United and manager Aidy Boothroyd as the club looks forward to the future after a recent downturn.

Despite the U`s failing to secure League One play-off place after season-long contention, he is not disheartened and has pledged to support his staff financially in the close-season, although did warn the charity could not extend to "a bottomless pit of money."

"I will do my absolute best to back Aidy. He`s as disappointed as anyone is," Cowling told the Daily Gazette.

Upon Boothroyd`s arrival last autumn, Cowling said that the side was working towards a three-year plan to elevate and stabilise United at Championship level and it seems he is still very much committed to that plan.

Cowling used a boxing-ring analogy to summaries how he feels about his tenure to date, as first owner and later also Chairman, saying he`d "been taking the punches" for the club.

He was probably alluding to this season`s events as much as anything else, which includes Monday`s tribunal in London. It took place to resolve a compensation dispute with Norwich City over Paul Lambert`s controversial switch.

Cowling succeeded former Chairman Peter Heard, who was given a life presidency after severing sixteen years in the role.

Does a lot of talking your chairman doesn't he?

We haven't got a CE at the moment, so maybe he needs to do more because of that. David Mcnally hasn't exactly been a mute, recentlly at Norwich, has he....!

Cowling = LEGEND..! Good to hear, lets hope Aidy spends any funds wisely.

He's done some good things for th club and it a good bloke. Unfair on Norwich over the ticketing in January though? Possibly.

Its a positive that "he does a lot of talking" as it shows that he is in touch with the fans and is being open about the running of the club and his ambitions.

'Unfair on Norwich over the ticketing in January though? Possibly' Matt, are you a Norwich fan?!? WTF? How was he unfair, all the attention towards him being the bad guy was unfair...!
StevieG Col U
Just asking the question... think he did a grand job in looking after the club myself.
