'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Aidy Admits Interest in Irishman

Premier League striker Roy O'Donovan is a possible summer transfer target for Aidy Boothroyd and Colchester United.

The out-of-contract Sunderland forward - who has spent the last few months of the season with the U's League One counterparts Hartlepool United and is one of many players the U's are tracking. O'Donovan struck twice against the U's - for the Monkeyhangers - last month.

Boothroyd confirmed: 'Roy O'Donovan is a player I like.

With the season set to draw to a close on Saturday, with a home fixture against Leyton Orient, Boothroyd has been quick planning how to boost the U's attacking fire power. However, the 24-year-old's goalscoring record of nine in fourteen for Hartlepool has also alerted divisional big-spenders Southampton.

'I thought he did very well against us, but he's just one of many I'm looking at,' he added.

Not if Coventry...and sadly Boothroyd have their way.
