Buckle: No Colchester Contact

Former U's man Paul Buckle has revealed that there has been no contact between himself and Colchester United.

Buckle had been touted as a possible replacement for Aidy Boothroyd as manager of the U's by many bookmakers and fans alike. However, he admitted while he's still manager of Torquay United he will not look elsewhere for work.

'I`m in a job at Torquay, who have offered me a new contract, and I would never apply for a job when I am in one,' the 39-year-old said.

'I wouldn`t do it when I`m in a job. I have been here three years and they have offered me a new deal.'

On the other hand there is still the opportunity for the U's and owner-chairman Robbie Cowling to make an approach towards the Gulls with regards top Buckle.

And Buckle did speak of a previous approach between the two clubs when the U's were manager hunting at the start of last season.

He added: 'The last time the two clubs spoke and that was as close as it got.

'There is a procedure and Colchester are very professional and so are Torquay.'
