Reported Tierney Interest - No Smoke Without Fire?

The Sunday People is playing catch-up on speculation`s merry-go-round as they report that Coventry City may try to snatch Marc Tierney from Colchester United.

The young full-back is on record as saying he is well aware that the U`s will sell him if he fails to agree terms on an improved contract offer which will over-write his current deal, set to expire next summer.

No man knows the ins-and-outs of his situation like Aidy Boothroyd, who had been trying, plus apparently slowly succeeding, to convince Tierney his future lies with the Essex side shortly before exiting to Coventry himself and so the story makes perfect sense.

Another side, however, supposedly in the frame for his signature are Norwich City, managed by Paul Lambert who was the man responsible for bringing Tierney with much acclaim into the Colchester side from Shrewsbury Town eighteen months ago.

Other teams reportedly interested at Championship level are believed to be Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Coventry.

Tierney recently rejected the terms of Colchester`s improved offer on his terms and has repeatedly told the press his reluctance to commit to the cause is for financial reasons.

Think we'll find out pretty soon whether he's gonna stay or be sold - its best for all if we do!
