Prutton`s Poyet Friendship Could Seal Deal

David Prutton`s future as a possible Brighton-bound free agent looks likelier than him committing to Colchester United because of a closeness between the player and Seagulls boss, Gus Poyet.

Prutton was recently offered a new deal to stay with Aidy Boothroyd at Colchester after they struck a rapport themselves following the 28-year-old`s arrival from Leeds United. It has since sensibly been retracted by U`s Chirman and owner Robbie Cowling because Boothroyd decided to take on a new job at Coventry City.

Hence, Brighton`s manager Poyet has been able to jump on to the negotiation table, reveling he already knew Prutton "very well" due to their shared time in Yorkshire as a former assistant manager.

On the current situation, Poyet told the local Brighton Argus: "Things change every day. He would be a great addition to the squad but it's not going to be that simple and we need to make sure he will fit within our wage bill."

Well, we'll see what happens. Prutton must be on a fair wedge here so the new boss might feel that money could be spent better on a few more players!
