'If It's Football, It's Vital'

So... Are You Happy It`s Ward?

Robbie Cowling is a business man with the hard task of people-pleasing thousands of football fans and we know you can`t all tell him exactly what you think of the state of affairs at Colchester United.

So why not tell us?

Only a clutch of names - ten according to Cowling - were genuinely in-the-running to succeed Aidy Boothroyd following his Coventry departure, so the he picked experience over possible razzmatazz by promoting John Ward from the assistant`s role.

The benefits are many, with Colchester not having to pay perilous compensation figures to prize away another manager; they cannot afford to look like hypocrites, after all, in the wake of the protracted Paul Lambert affair, which would have happened if Torquay man Paul Buckle had decided to take the job while still under contract.

Ward is well-known as someone able to navigate his way out of this very division having done so with York City, Bristol City and Cheltenham Town in his time. He has also worked with many of the current squad both at Colchester and with other clubs, which should mean a period of consolidation and solidarity at the present time.

But what do you think?

Please vote on our latest snap-poll on the U`s latest managerial appointment.

Ward, 59, succeeded Boothroyd yesterday for his sixth role as a manager in the professional game.
