Good Or Bad? Lambert Money 'Already Spent`

Shelve those relativity cosmopolitan transfer targets and forget even comedy suggestions from Norwich City fans about where Robbie Cowling can put his money. The headline is: it`s already been spent.

A summer of wheeling and dealing befalls Colchester United now it seems, since strident Chairman and owner Robbie Cowling has reinforced his commitment to upholding sound finances. He says he won`t go gung-ho in the market, despite recently receiving nearly half-a-million pounds in compensation for former manager Paul Lambert.

Last week`s verdict, nine months in waiting, ordered City to pay £425,000 and also came shortly after Coventry paid what will remain an undisclosed sum for Lambert`s successor, Aidy Boothroyd.
Even allowing for some creative accounting, it seems the plan is to replicate last term`s fourth-highest finish with much the same side.

Cowling said in the EADT: "In many ways, the money has already been spent."

What this indicates is that CUFC will look to make only minor changes to the squad.

"We`d brought in players that Paul Lambert wanted that then didn`t figure under the new manager (Boothroyd). We ended up with a bigger squad than we would have done if we hadn`t made the change," explained Cowling.

So, time to praise the approach or start panicking? You decide!

I don't think theres any reason to panic, yet! To be honest I don't think theres anything wrong with the squad, more in the tactics they were being instructed to play in, I mean look at the results we had with Lambert we were doing excellent, then, exit Lambert and enter Hoofroyd (sorry Boothroyd) it goes to show if we play to feet, short passes we will fair better, than just lumping it down the pitch and hoping for the best. I say lets see how the new season fairs before we make to much judgement.
