New Singings Mean No New Ifil Contract

Colchester United`s double-singed duo of Brian Wilson and Andy Bond from free transfers has put paid to Phil Ifil`s career in stripes.

Manager John Ward said financial logic dictated that the new signings took priority over the stalling Ifil, who it would appeared delayed agreeing an extension because the Essex side were only prepared to offer him reduced terms.

Ifil`s promising start as a breakthrough star at Premier League Tottenham never fully materialised during his Colchester days although he leaves with a restored reputation following his hapless start in club Colchester when compared to last season`s solid, if bit-part, showings.
