Anthony`s Double Not Last Word In Draw

Young attacking sprite Anthony Wordsworth secured a point for Colchester United yesterday as the new season treated fans to four goals in a mostly lively 2-2 draw.

The midfielder answered an early penalty give-away with a quick-fire double as he began this season in the same rich scoring from with which he ended the last, grabbing two inside sixty seconds.

Exeter also scored twice, the first from a penalty conceded by David Perkins and the second standing despite some debate as to it being offside.

Ryan Harley scored from the spot with seven gone and Exeter also nabbed another late on when Richard Logan squared the match.

John Ward said Wordsworth had been given a target of netting fifteen goals and he was delighted the sharpshooting buck had managed to get off the mark so early, with first a header and then unreachable free-kick.

Jamie Cureton, he of much U`s infamy through, played a short cameo with Exeter but was unable to give those writing headlines what they probably craved and did not hit the string.

Thus, the spoils were shared on the opening weekend of the 2010-11 season.
