Bruce To Name Strong Sunderland Side

Bruce To Name Strong Sunderland Side

Steve Bruce, the former Wigan and Birmingham City manager, has said his Sunderland side will not be taking competition from Colchester lightly.

The sides meet at the Stadium of Light in tomorrow League Cup Second Round tie with the Premiership outfit confirming the probable recall of experienced top-flight names. Midfielders Lee Cattermole and Andy Reid as well as defender Michael Turner "all need games" according to Black Cats boss Bruce.

"We'll put a strong team out, an experienced team. It does give a chance to people who haven't played yet, but I would still envisage we will be very strong," he told the club`s official website.

It is unknown how the U`s will line up, although John Ward could easily be expected to fight fire with fire and stick to a similar roster of players to that used against Rochdale over the weekend.
