We Need You: Ward Wants More U`s Support!

Boss John Ward says Colchester United fans should flock to the ground to support his undefeated League One team.

The side`s form, without loss but six draws and three wins, means they have failed to lift attendance figures to a hallowed five thousand mark - with the current running average hitting 4,567.

Last weekend`s home match with Tranmere Rovers, with the U`s installed as firm favourites for victory, was the lowest of term so far, with just 3,637 following the side as they shot into the top-six play-off places with a 3-1 win.

The cub`s highest figure came when Sheffield Wednesday earned a point before 6,011 supporters at the start of the season.

The manager commented in a recent EADT article: "There are less people here and we`re doing better. I don`t know why that is, but hopefully the ones that did come will have thoroughly enjoyed it.

"All I will say is that we have got a really good team here to watch that is playing some really good football when they can."

So - is it a perennial problem that Colchester`s core support is too small or are former loyalists staying away on match day?
