Ward on Antonio signing

21-year-old Michail Antonio signed for Colchester on loan on Monday and John Ward, as he told the official website, is 'pleased' to bring in the winger.

Ward feels that Antonio is close to breaking into the Reading 1st team, which makes his arrival all the more impressive: 'he is direct and attacking and has all of the right attributes for the way that we play.

'The nice thing is that, although he has been on the edge of gettinginto a very good Reading team,he has beenkeen to come here.'

It is already hoped that he can stay with The U's for longer than his initial 1-month loan spell, but this will be decided at another time: 'we are pleased to have him here and we will see what's what at the end of the first month.

'We would like him for longer, but it will be reviewed at the end of the month.'
