'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Player Search Continues

Geraint Williams is continuing to work hard to secure new faces for his squad. His first week in charge has already been a busy one, while watching the reserves collect the first piece of silverware under his reign on Tuesday night.

He was back to the job in hand early Wednesday morning in an attempt to bring in players before Saturday's opening Championship league fixture with Birmingham City, the first time Colchester United have been in the Second Tier of English Football.

'It has been a hectic few days since my appointment and it has been a case of spending time on the phone to other managers and I have had agents ringing me with details of their players,' he said.

'The players that I will bring in must be better than the ones already here"

Geraint made it clear that he has made lots of enquires about players, saying: 'although the season is almost upon us, I will not be bringing in anybody that won't improve the squad.'

A very difficult task for any manager with a tight budget. May be worth trying both Norwich and Ipswich for any good youngsters in need of a few good games but not quite in their first teams.

Hopefully we'll sign a few players in the week. I would like to see at least 1 player signed on loan from a premiership side
