'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sometimes you just know!

Lloyd James may well not have even started for Colchester against Crewe at the weekend had others been available but he took his chance with a couple of goals!

A brace from James helped The U's to a 4-1 FA cup win over Crewe and his opener, and Colchester equaliser against Crewe, is a goal that he has put down as the 'best' of his career.

Although, as he told The East Anglian Times, he has only scored four in his career: 'that`s the best goal of my career. But I`ve only scored four!'

The midfielder came in when Anthony Wordsworth missed out late on due to the birth of his first child and this gave him his chance, which he was happy to take: 'I was just glad to have played this weekend, and my wishes go to Anthony Wordsworth whose partner has just had a baby.

'Anthony has been terrific for us, and been one of our best players this year.

'But I`m delighted with my performance. It`s been great day for me. We will just have to wait and see what happens next weekend. That`s still a long way away.'

Sometimes you just have a feeling it will be your day and James said that he had a 'feeling' that he would score, and as soon as he let fly with his 30-yard opener he knew it was in: 'I said on the bus that I feel like I am going to score today, I just felt like that.

'I had a header in the first half that just went over, and when the ball came out to me in the second half, I thought - 'I`m just going to hit this` - as soon as it left my foot it was going in.'

James' goals, and performance, now gives John Ward something to think about this weekend but will his goals be enough to keep him in the starting XI for the game against MK Dons?
