'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fans were disgraceful

Following Colchester's 5-1 thrashing at home by MK Dons at the weekend the opposing manager has leapt to John Ward's defence.

The MK Dons manager Karl Robinson, as he told BBC Three Counties Radio, was 'disgusted' with the treatment the U's manager was subjected to by sections of the crowd: 'their fans were disgraceful with some of the things they were shouting at their manager at the end.

'He's doing unbelievably here with a budget people don't really know about.

'He gets an awful lot of stick. I've watched them play three or four games this year and for 30 or 40 minutes against us they were a very good team.'

What did Ward make of this heavy defeat?

Well he admits, telling BBC Essex, that Colchester fans should be 'disappointed' but he did not think that he, or the team, had 'let them down' at all: 'I've got a sign up in the dressing room which says 'Win without boasting. Lose without excuses'.

'What's happened over the 90 minutes is MK Dons have taken their chances better than we have.'

As paying punters fans have a right to express their displeasure, although there is a right and wrong way of doing this - perhaps some overstepped the mark?
