'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Aldred joins Torquay

Colchester have allowed Tom Aldred, who only joined The U's earlier in the season, to join Torquay on loan until January 2nd.

The defender joins the league two outfit as cover for one of their injured players with Martin Ling, as he told the official Torquay website, more than happy with his acquisition: 'he is a tall lad. Watford saw massive potential in him but it didn't really take off for him there.

'I watched him play for Watford reserves three times last year when I was scouting for Walsall and he really impressed me.

'He will go straight into the squad for the Port Vale game and we also have a clearance for him in the FA Cup.'

Some first team football will do Aldred good, although if he has a long-term future with The U's remains to be seen?
