After a disappointing couple of weeks of league one action Colchester get a break from this with the FA Cup 2nd round this weekend when they entertain Swindon.
The U's will go into this as favourites, as they play in a division higher, although they will have to be at their best to beat Swindon. Chances of this have been given a boost by the news that Steven Gillespie is fit to return.
Gillespie has missed most of the season as he has either been injured or on the bench but after travelling with the squad to Carlisle last weekend he is now ready to return this.
John Ward, as he told The East Anglian Daily Times, always had the 27-year-old pencilled in to return in this game: 'Steven came up to Carlisle to train really but he will be ready for this Saturday and that was my kind of view all along.
'I could have sat him on the bench and could have played him in terms of that, but I didn't think he was quite ready and I didn't think it was worth the risk. The right thing was to get Steven back with the squad.
'He trained pretty hard on Friday and Saturday. We've monitored that on him really, rather than getting him involved in that game. But he will certainly be involved in my selection process this weekend.'
The striker has been out for the past month after damaging his hamstring in the 4-2 win over Notts County, which was his only league two start of the season.
