Striker in Colchester trial

Colchester are looking as former Swindon man Thomas Dossevi, who is currently with the club on trail.

John Ward, as he told The East Anglian Times, is taking a look at the 32-year-old French-born Togo international: 'Thomas is a French boy, who played for Swindon.

'He's just come in for two or three days to train with us. He has paid his own way.

'I was asked to have a look at him, and I have done. He's a free agent and we will see how he goes.

The U's manager admits that he has been quite impressed with the striker in training although he would like to have seen him play in a friendly, this has not been possible though: 'we tried to get a game on Monday or Tuesday for him, but we have not been able to do that.

'We may have to chat to him about what he wants to do. He's got some experience, he's 32, so he's been around a little bit. He's been doing all right in training.

For Dossevi to still be a free agent the offers cannot have been flooding in for him so he may well have to wait a little longer before a friendly can be arranged, either than or Ward takes a calculated risk with him.

On the right deal, pay as you play perhaps, Colchester could be onto a winner though.
