Pitch inspection needed
A pitch inspection is needed this afternoon to determine if Colchester will be able to entertain Sheffield United this weekend.
The official website statement said: 'Colchester United will hold a pitch inspection at 1pm on Friday ahead of the weekend game against Sheffield United.
'Temperatures well below freezing over the last few nights has caused concern despite the covers being on since Tuesday, and match referee Trevor Kettle will travel down on Friday morning to take a look at the playing surface.'
All will be hoping that the game can beat the freeze!
