Charlton's unbeaten home record was ended when Colchester went to The Valley and came away with a win on Tuesday night to shock the likely league one winner.
Colchester got off to a fine start with Anthony Wordsworth (5) opening the scoring early on, and this lead was taken into the break.
Many would have expected Charlton to strike back but this wasn't managed with a 2-0 victory secured when Steven Gillespie (73) capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake.
