'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ward: It's mixed feelings for me

John Ward was not sure if he should laugh or cry following Colchester's weekend draw with Carlisle.

The U's, who let a lead slip against play-off chasing Carlisle in the 1-1 draw, are becoming draw specialists so Ward was left with 'mixed feelings': 'it's mixed feelings for me, but there are a lot of good things I can reflect upon. We've done a lot of good things against a team that is in a good position and we haven't lost ground to them.

'We haven't gained ground on them either and that's what we were hoping to do. We've just played four teams out of the top six and we've not lost to any of them, but we've been disappointed not to win, too.

'That's the way the game goes though and they want to win as much as everyone else does. We've just seen another very good game of football between two very good teams and I think that's been the plus side.

'I think we're among the top sides in the division too and although I want to win games and I don't want to draw them, I don't want to lose them either.'

The draw was Colchester fifth successive draw.
