Holding down a place in the starting XI?

Having started his first game of 2012 at the weekend Michael Rose is now aiming to cement a place in the Colchester starting XI.

Rose has pretty much 'written off' this season but is still looking, as he told BBC Essex, to keep his place in the side if he can: 'I've not played since Boxing Day, it's been a long wait.

'It's not really got going for me this year, I'll probably write this [season] off. Hopefully I can put a run together now and play each game.'

Ben Coker and then John White have been ahead of him and Rose has no qualms with White keeping him out as he rates him highly: 'Johnny White's been doing great there. I'd put him up there and says he's our best defender. It'd be nice to get a few more games, we'll see what happens.'

Do you think that the 29-year-old, who signed for The U's from Swindon last summer, can hold down a first-team place from now on?
