Heath ready to sign

A new contract has been offered to Matt Heath, with his current expiring this summer, and he is ready to commit his future to Colchester as soon as possible.

So long as 'everything is right' the defender, as he told The East Anglian Times, will have no problem committing his future to the club: 'I would like to stay here, as long as everything is right - I'm happy around the area, so yes, I would like to stay.

'I've been offered a new contract. A lot of players have been spoken to and I'm guessing it's just a matter of sorting out people's personal terms.

'I couldn't think of anything worse than going away and knowing that you're going to have to go around places on trial.

'So it would be nice to get something sorted before I say goodbye to everyone this summer.'

Since joining The U's in 2008 Heath has made more than 100 appearances.
