Halford is top man for August.

Greg Halford has been voted the Vital Colchester player of the month for August.

Halford a product of Colchester's highly successful youth system, has played in every game so far this season, scoring Colchester's first ever goal at Layer Road in the Championship against Barnsley.

Despite handing in a transfer request just hours before the U's travelled to MK Dons in the Carling Cup, he has continued to put in solid performances.

Greg was influential as Colchester gained their first three points of the season as the U's beat Derby County 3-1 at Layer Road last Saturday.
