Dunne the man?

Joe Dunne, who is acting as caretaker manager following John Ward's sacking, has the opportunity to become the Colchester manager on a permanent basis.

The 39-year-old admitted it's been "a very difficult 24-hours" and The U's have "lost a good man" but must now lay down a marker if he wants to get the job, which he could?

If Dunne gets the results then Robbie Cowling could appoint the Irishman as "appointing from within" would be preferred.
