Woody Linked With Charlton

The transfer rumour mill is in full flow today with reports linking the U's midfielder Anthony Wordsworth with a move to Charlton.

Although nothing concrete has emerged, it is understood that the Addicks are currently lining up a bid of 250,000 to prise the cultured left-footer to the Valley.

The U's are believed to have turned down a 500,000 offer from Bournemouth this time last year, but with Wordsworth's contract up in the summer it is likely that a lesser fee would be accepted.

In November, boss Joe Dunne suggested that he was surprised Wordsworth was still with the club.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: 'Since I've taken over he's been a top player. It doesn't bother me to say I'm surprised he's still here.

'If you were to say to me, 'will he leave before the end of the season?' He might.

'We want to keep our good players but ambition is a big thing in football. Will I lose Anthony? Probably?'

Of course, many of the rumours this month will amount to nothing, but Wordsworth has always had a level of speculation surrounding him and it will be interesting to see how the following three weeks pan out.
