U's manager Joe Dunne has opted for another young side to face Scunthorpe United in this afternoon's crunch game at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Having had his hand forced through injury to Kem Izzet and suspension to Anthony Wordsworth, the middle of the park sees a couple of changes for the U's.
New recruit Billy Clifford has been handed an immediate debut in the middle of the park, with homegrown youngster Alex Gilbey joining him alongside the energetic Marcus Bean.
Dominic Samuel continues the forward role he was given last week, whilst Drey Wright and Gavin Massey take the flanks.
John White is still to recover completely from the illness he sustained over New Year meaning that he takes a place on the bench and Brian Wilson retains his place at full back, whilst not only does Josh Thompson also continue at centre-half after being extremely impressive in the defeat at Doncaster last Saturday, he is also given the captain's armband.
Jordan Sanderson is given a place on the bench whilst Jack Compton misses out through injury.
U's fans will be hoping that the youth in the side can bring energy and enthusiasm in a game that many are seeing as vital and a must-win in the U's quest to steer clear of the drop.
U's: Cousins, Wilson, Okuonghae, Thompson, Rose, Massey, Bean, Gilbey, Clifford, Wright, Samuel
Subs: Pentney, White, Heath, Sanderson, Sears, Porter, Morrison
