'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Bids For Woody Just Yet

U's chairman Robbie Cowling has confirmed that no concrete offers have been received for Anthony Wordsworth yet, with speculation increasing over a potential move to neighbours Ipswich Town.

Reports surfaced last night that Town were closing in on a £200,000 move for the midfielder who served for the first of a two-game suspension yesterday.

However, speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times this morning, Robbie Cowling said: 'There's nothing to report yet.

'Other clubs do seem to be interested in Anthony [Wordsworth], but as yet I have received no concrete offers.'

With the window reaching it's half-way point, the prospect of losing Wordsworth has polarised the opinions of many U's supporters.

On the one hand, cashing in now could give Dunne vital funds to strengthen the squad for the relegation battle as January draws to a close, but keeping one of the U's more influential players could also be seen as crucial.

Interestingly, despite commenting on the Anthony Wordsworth speculation, there appears to have been no official comment on Joe Dunne's remarks yesterday that he would be considering his position.

Presumably, these thoughts are therefore still ongoing and it will be an interesting few days at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
