Dunne To Remain U's Boss

Following Saturday's defeat to fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United, U's boss Joe Dunne admitted he would spend the weekend considering his position in charge of the U's.

The Irishman has now presided over a club record-breaking ninth defeat in a row, but Vital Colchester understands that Dunne is to remain in charge of the club for the foreseeable future.

After the 2-1 reverse on Saturday, Dunne told BBC Essex: 'I love this club too much to see it suffer the way it is at the moment, and if that means that I have to go... there are many solutions to problems, but one solution may be another voice; if I'm one of the problems then maybe I will need to be one of the solutions.'

However, following talks with the chairman Robbie Cowling, Dunne is to continue his best efforts at pulling the U's away from trouble and securing League One status for a fresh go at it next season.
